Prometeo Coaching is an Italian Professional Coaching School established in 1997 and an organization specializing in professional Coach education and Coaching services.
Its activities include the education of Professional Coaches, specialist training, Life Coaching, Business Coaching, Sport Coaching, Mentoring, Supervision and Coaching projects for individuals, professionals, teams and organizations.
Prometeo Coaching is recognized as a Coaching School by A.Co.I. – Associazione Coaching Italia. It also provides Coaching Projects and Services certified as compliant with UNI 11601:2024, under CSQA Certificate of Conformity No. 53733. ICF-accredited Level 1 and Level 2 programs are available through the partnership with Vira Human Training.

Prometeo Coaching was established in 1997 by Angelo Bonacci, Founder and Academic Director.
Since then, Prometeo Coaching has developed a professional education system dedicated to Coaching, combining structured learning with practice, observation, feedback, Mentoring and Supervision.
The purpose is not to teach generic motivation or personal-development techniques. The focus is on learning how to manage a structured Coaching process, based on clear agreements, professional boundaries, responsibility, awareness and respect for the Client’s autonomy.
Prometeo Coaching operates both in professional Coach education and in the design and delivery of Coaching services. These two areas are related but must remain clearly distinguished when discussing professional standards, recognition and certification.
| PROMETEO COACHING IS | PROMETEO COACHING IS NOT |
|---|---|
| A Professional Coaching School active since 1997 | A generic personal-development provider |
| A Coaching School recognized by A.Co.I. | A state licensing or regulatory authority |
| An organization whose Coaching Projects and Services are certified to UNI 11601:2024 by CSQA | A provider claiming that UNI 11601 certifies individual Coaches or Coaching courses |
| Professional education based on practice, feedback, Mentoring and Supervision | Motivational speaking or inspirational training |
| Professional Coaching with clear role boundaries | Psychotherapy, psychological treatment or business consulting |
Professional Coaching in Italy involves different legal, technical, associative and international reference systems. They have different functions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
| AREA | REFERENCE | WHAT IT MEANS |
|---|---|---|
| Professional framework | Italian Law 4/2013 | Italian Law 4/2013 provides the legal framework for professions not organized into statutory professional orders or registers. It does not create a state license or state register for Coaches, and membership in a professional association is not legally required in order to practise. |
| Coach education | A.Co.I. – Associazione Coaching Italia | Prometeo Coaching is listed among the Coaching Schools whose professional education standards have been verified and recognized by A.Co.I. Recognition of the School is distinct from the individual professional status or association membership of a graduate. |
| Coaching services | UNI 11601:2024 · CSQA | UNI 11601:2024 defines terminology, characteristics and requirements for the provision of Coaching services. It does not define the competencies of individual Coaches. Prometeo Coaching provides Coaching Projects and Services certified as compliant with UNI 11601:2024 under CSQA Certificate of Conformity No. 53733. |
| International development | ICF – International Coaching Federation | Through the partnership with Vira Human Training, ICF-accredited Level 1 and Level 2 education programs are available. Level 1 is an accredited education pathway toward the ACC credential, while Level 2 is an accredited education pathway toward the PCC credential. ACC and PCC are individual ICF credentials subject to ICF’s own requirements and application process. |
A.Co.I., UNI and ICF are three different systems
A.Co.I. evaluates professional education standards and operates within the Italian Law 4/2013 framework.
UNI 11601:2024 concerns the characteristics and requirements of the Coaching service. It does not define the competencies of individual Coaches.
ICF operates an independent international system for accredited Coach education and individual Coach credentials.
The Prometeo Coaching School provides 100 hours of professional Coach education within an overall learning process of approximately six months.
The educational process combines theoretical and experiential learning with Coaching practice, observation, structured feedback, Mentoring, Supervision and follow-up activities.
Different attendance formats are available depending on the edition, including Full Immersion, Weekend and Weekday formats.
In the Full Immersion format, seven consecutive days represent the intensive phase of the education process. They do not represent the full duration of the professional learning journey. Study, practice, Mentoring, Supervision and other development activities continue throughout the overall program.
Intensive does not mean short.
The attendance format describes how part of the education is organized. The overall duration describes the complete period in which learning, practice and professional development take place.
Completing the Prometeo Coaching School does not automatically result in the A.Co.I. Quality and Professional Qualification Attestation.
Graduates who wish to join A.Co.I. may apply according to the Association’s membership and professional qualification requirements. For members who meet the applicable requirements, A.Co.I. may issue the Quality and Professional Qualification Attestation provided for under Italian Law 4/2013.
The Attestation is not a state professional license and is not legally required in order to practise Coaching.
Life Coaching
Professional Coaching applied to personal and professional objectives, awareness, decision-making, responsibility and action.
Business Coaching
Professional Coaching applied to professionals, managers, entrepreneurs, teams and organizations, with attention to leadership, decisions, performance and organizational objectives.
Sport Coaching
Professional Coaching applied to athletes, coaches, teams and sports organizations, with clear boundaries between Coaching, technical training and healthcare professions.
Angelo Bonacci founded Prometeo Coaching in 1997 and has led its educational development since then.
His work has shaped the identity of the School around a consistent set of principles: methodological clarity, practical application, professional responsibility, clear boundaries and continuous development.
Rather than describing Prometeo Coaching through a number of years that becomes outdated over time, the relevant historical fact is clear: Prometeo Coaching has been active in Professional Coach education since 1997.
Professional Coaching in Italy operates within the broader framework of professions not organized into statutory professional orders or registers.
Italian Law 4/2013 does not create a state register of Coaches and does not establish a state license required to practise Coaching.
Professional associations may operate within the framework established by the law and, where the applicable requirements are met, may issue quality and professional qualification attestations to their members.
Membership in a professional association and possession of such an Attestation are not mandatory legal requirements for practising Coaching.
Separately, UNI 11601:2024 provides a technical reference for the terminology, characteristics and requirements of the Coaching service. The standard does not define the competencies of individual Coaches.
Prometeo Coaching therefore distinguishes clearly between:
The Italian professional framework is distinct from the international education and credentialing system operated by ICF – International Coaching Federation.
Through the partnership with Vira Human Training, professionals who want to develop their education according to ICF standards can access ICF-accredited Level 1 and Level 2 programs.
Level 1 is an ICF-accredited education pathway toward the ACC – Associate Certified Coach credential.
Level 2 is an ICF-accredited education pathway toward the PCC – Professional Certified Coach credential.
ACC and PCC are individual credentials awarded by International Coaching Federation after applicants satisfy the applicable requirements established by ICF. They are not automatically awarded by Prometeo Coaching or Vira Human Training.
